Roller Disco
I got back from the Caribbean two days ago, so this is appropriate. I was telling a friend of mine about what we did, and everything I said began with "We were at this bar, and . . ." It was a lot of fun xD

Title: Roller Disco
Fandom: The Chronicles of Chrestomanci
Characters: Julia, Janet, Christopher
Prompt: 060, Drink
Word Count: 351
Rating: PG
Summary: Julia and Janet roller disco. Drunkenly.
Author's Notes: I wrote this a while ago, but I never posted it. Or I posted it and deleted it. I can't remember.

“Let’s roller disco.”

Julia, who was swilling dark Bermuda rum in an empty bedroom in Chrestomanci Castle, looked up at Janet. “What?”

“Roller disco,” Janet repeated, coming precariously close to falling off the chair she was in and spilling her rum all over the carpet. The girls had smuggled the alcohol from the Pinhoe Arms, whose owners were relatively lax in their definition of ‘minor.’ “Like discoing, but . . . roller.”

“I . . . what?”

Are we gonna roller disco or not?” Janet shouted. Julia shot her a sour look and nursed her rum.

“Fine, fine, whatever.”

They managed to scrounge up two pairs of very old roller skates from the playroom, and Janet was wobbling around in a huge pair of Roger’s, while Julia’s toes were getting pinched in a pair of her own from when she was about five. They had some trouble with the keys, what with Julia being much too inebriated to remember how they worked, but somehow got them on in the end.

They found an empty dining hall with hardwood floors and staggered there, laden down with roller skates and a phonograph and an extra bottle or so of rum, just in case. When they had set everything up and were standing (almost) upright, Julia placed the needle of the phonograph onto the record.

“Now what?” she asked, as the first strains of Bach began to sound. Janet took a swig of her rum.

“Now we dance,” she said. And she, somehow, began to get down to Bach’s Brandeburg Concerto No. 1.

The roller disco might have been quite a success if Janet and Julia hadn’t been so drunk. As it was, Julia slipped on some spilled rum and careened into Janet, who went rolling out the door of the dining hall and tumbled magnificently down a flight of stairs. Julia landed on top of her moments later. As they lay moaning in the front hall, a forbidding shadow loomed over them.

“You’re drunk,” Chrestomanci accused dryly. Janet raised a limp fist.

“It was worth it!” she cried. Julia groaned.

“No, it wasn’t,” she said.

Lol :-) I agree, it wasn't worth it, except possibly to Chrstomanci, who must be enjoying himself.
